The significant damage to the corner (varnishing coating) is presented in the last four images. The item also has a minor scratch visible in the second image. I'm not sure if the following is intended functionality or a result of a flaw in the design. The music only plays when the button is lightly touched after opening the lid. If you choose to use mineral spirits, dampen a clean rag with a small amount and gently wipe the sanded area to remove any dust or residue. Let the surface dry completely before proceeding.
